The Franklin Reviews  ·  Last updated: August 28, 2026

We believe in enumerated powers, limited government, and not pretending a cookie banner is the Magna Carta. This policy explains what information The Franklin Reviews ("we," "us," the Site) collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. If you want poetry, try the Founders. If you want to know whether we sell your soul to an ad network, keep reading: we do not.

This is a website policy, not legal advice, therapy, or a subpoena response.

1.Who we are

The Franklin Reviews is an independent commentary site edited by William Taylor Franklin. We publish analysis. We do not run a supermarket loyalty club, a dating app, or a secret dossier on your hamburger preferences—though, given recent editorials, the last one would have been on-brand.

2.Information you give us

3.Information collected automatically

4.Cookies and similar tools

Cookies are small text files. Some are essential (so the Site remembers you are not a denial-of-service attack). Some are analytics (so we know Chapter Two was not a cry for help). We do not use your visit to follow you around the internet selling orthopedic shoes or political panic. You can block cookies in your browser. The Site may then forget you between pages, like a Confederation Congress trying to raise a tax.

5.How we use information

6.Legal bases (if you are in a jurisdiction that cares)

Where required, we rely on: consent (subscribe forms, non-essential cookies); legitimate interests (running a tiny independent site without going dark); contract (if you buy something); and legal obligation (if a court remembers we exist).

7.Sharing

8.How long we keep it

Subscriber emails last until you unsubscribe or the list is retired. Correspondence lasts as long as needed to answer you and keep a responsible record. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and operations. Backup copies linger the way attic boxes linger: longer than anyone planned, shorter than civilization.

9.Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures. No website is a vault at the Bank of England. If you put state secrets in a comment box titled "First name," that is a you problem and a history problem.

10.Your choices

11.Children

The Site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. If a child has submitted data, write us and we will delete it. The cattle cycle is complicated enough without COPPA.

12.International visitors

The Site is operated from the United States. If you visit from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the United States, where the rules look like the Articles of Confederation: functional, imperfect, and frequently amended by statute.

13.Third-party sites

Links to USDA PDFs, White House proclamations, and other sources are for your curiosity. Their privacy policies are theirs. We cannot reform the entire administrative state in a footer.

14.Do Not Track and global privacy controls

Some browsers send Do Not Track signals. There is no consistent standard for what that means. Where a Global Privacy Control or similar legally recognized signal applies and we can honor it, we will treat it as a request to limit sale or targeted sharing. Again: we do not sell the list.

15.Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top will change. Continued use means you have seen the new version, or at least had the opportunity, which is more process than some legislatures provide.

16.Contact

If you read this far, you are either a lawyer, a founder of a very small republic, or someone who cares how a newsletter handles an email address. All three are welcome. The fourth category—people who want our readers' data—are not.
